Recover your data when the drive can't describe itself.
Deleted files, formatted volumes and lost partitions are routine — recovery tools have handled them for decades, and so do we. The cases that still go wrong are the drives whose own metadata is destroyed or overwritten, or belongs to a different disk entirely. We rebuild the layout from the directory records we actually find, rather than trusting a description of the drive that may be wrong.
Free to download, scan and preview. You only pay if you recover.
Where recovery usually goes wrong
Finding the files is rarely the hard part. Getting the right bytes — from the right place, at the right length — is where tools fail quietly, and where you only find out after you have paid.
Doesn't trust the boot sector
Finding a lost partition is old ground — tools have scanned for boot sector signatures for decades. What they do next is where it breaks: they read the geometry out of the volume's own boot sector and believe it. When that sector is damaged, overwritten, or belongs to another volume, every number is wrong and every file is read from the wrong place.
We derive the layout from the directory records we actually find, and cross-check them against each other. Scanning a volume with its partition table intact, and scanning the same volume with the table zeroed, give identical results — a test we run on every release.
Carves files by content
When directory entries are gone entirely, we locate files by their internal structure and work out where each one ends — not by guessing a size, but by walking the file's own format. That means intact files instead of truncated garbage.
Reads the whole disk properly
Full support for 4096-byte sector drives, USB bridge enclosures and volumes larger than 2 TB. Where other tools misread a 4Kn disk, we address it at its real sector size.
What it does
Everything below is available in the full version. Scanning and previewing are always free.
Deleted file recovery
Restore files removed from FAT12/16/32, exFAT and NTFS volumes, with their original names, folder structure, timestamps and attributes where the entries survive.
Lost & deleted partitions
Find partitions whose entries have been erased from the partition table, including logical drives inside an extended partition, and browse them as if they were never lost.
Formatted volume recovery
Recover the contents of a volume that has been reformatted, as long as the old data has not been overwritten. The new file system is skipped; the old one is reconstructed.
Disk imaging
Take a byte-for-byte image of a failing drive and work from the image instead. If the disk dies halfway through your recovery, everything you already imaged is still safe.
Preview before you pay
Open documents, photos, video, audio and archives straight out of the scan results. Confirm your data is really there before spending anything.
Drive health check
Read SMART attributes to see whether a disk is failing before you start working on it — and decide whether imaging first is the safer route.
Design files most recovery tools can't even see
Raw carving only works if the software recognises the format. Generic tools look for photos and documents and stop there — which is why a lost CAD project so often comes back as a wall of anonymous fragments.
Carve Data Recovery knows the internal layout of professional 3D and engineering formats, including their block chains and end-of-file markers. That lets it recover a project file as a complete, openable file rather than a partial one.

Three steps
Nothing is written to the disk you are recovering from. Ever.
Scan
Pick the disk or partition and run a scan. Start with the quick scan for recently deleted files; move to the advanced scan if the volume itself is damaged.
Preview
Browse the results as a folder tree or as a list, search by name, and open files to confirm they're intact. This part is free and unlimited.
Recover
Choose what you need and save it to a different drive. We'll never write onto the source disk, because that is what destroys your remaining data.
What no recovery software can do
Every vendor in this category should tell you this before you pay. We would rather lose a sale than take your money for something that was never going to work.
Bring back overwritten data
If new data has been written over the space your files occupied, they are gone — for us and for every other tool. This is the most common reason recovery fails. Stop using the drive the moment you notice the loss.
Rescue a physically failing drive
If the disk isn't detected, won't spin up, or makes clicking or grinding noises, switch it off and talk to a professional recovery service. Software cannot help, and every further read makes the mechanical damage worse.
Undo TRIM on an SSD that has been running
SSDs and flash storage erase deleted blocks in the background. If the drive has been powered on since the loss, the data may already be gone. Powering it off immediately matters far more than which tool you choose.
Break encryption
On an encrypted volume we can recover your files once you supply the key or password. Without it the data stays locked — that is what encryption is for, and no recovery tool changes that.
What we can do is tell you which situation you are in. Scanning is free, takes minutes and only reads — so you find out whether your data is still there before you spend anything.

Common questions
No. Scanning is read-only and the program never writes to the source drive. Recovery output must be saved to a different location — the software enforces this, because writing onto the same disk is what overwrites the data you're trying to get back.
A quick scan of a healthy volume takes seconds to a few minutes. A full advanced scan reads every sector of the device, so expect roughly 1–3 hours per terabyte depending on the drive and how it's connected. A USB enclosure will be slower than an internal SATA connection.
Stop using it. If the drive is clicking, or SMART reports reallocated sectors, image it first and recover from the image. Every further read shortens the drive's life. If it is already unreadable, a professional cleanroom service is the only safe option — no software can help at that point.
Yes. Licensing works offline, which matters because recovery is often done from a bootable environment or a second machine. Activation can be completed without a live connection.
It can read any drive Windows exposes, including SSDs, USB flash drives and memory cards. Be aware that SSDs and modern flash storage run TRIM, which erases deleted data in the background — recovery is only possible if the blocks have not yet been trimmed. Power the device off as soon as you notice the loss to give yourself the best chance.
Yes. Your licence is tied to your account and can be deactivated on one machine and reactivated on another. See Support for the steps, or contact us if you need help.
